Interesting to see that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton decided to follow in the footsteps of John Edwards and Barack Obama in using video and the Internet to announce her candidacy.
Internet TV will play an important role in this upcoming presidential election and I find it interesting that the Clinton campaign is not utilizing YouTube to help galvanize the troops and get her message out. Clinton’s video announcement was made on her web site and I cannot see a copy of it on YouTube while her main rivals Edwards and Obama have pages of YouTube videos.
That is not to say that the Clinton campaign is not interested in social media. A check of MySpace shows that the Clinton campaign already has a MySpace page up and running as does Barack Obama (not an official site) and John Edwards. The Clinton campaign even has a Squidoo page.
Social media will play a role in the election of the next president of the United States and the battle for the Internet is already underway.

I’d rank Edwards first followed by Richardson, Obama, Clinton, and Kuchinich for effect use of online video to date. But some kind of George Allen style screw up on tape could dwarf the positive campaigning done via video if (or is it when?) something like that happens.

Where is ran Paul’s total? He is over 1000 subscribers and the only conservative, constitutionalist running! Please stop the blackout and give American’s a true choice for Constitutional government in 2008!

Despite the proven success of Internet and other niche marketing, many political consultants still prefer TV and the radio over the Internet.
