Hillary Goes Viral

Whether you love her or hate her, you have to give kudos to Hillary Clinton for the Sopranos spoof. The Clinton campaign has been trying to drum up interest in its campaign song which is about as exciting as watching paint drive.

So what did the campaign do to promote the fact that they chose ‘You and I” by Celine Dion as their new theme song? How about a new video staring Hillary and Bill that is a spoof of the Sopranos ending! The video is complete with bad guys in the diner and someone doing a bad job parallel parking. Who would have thought that the Clinton’s had such a great sense of humor!

The video is only available on HillaryClinton.com and Yahoo news, but expect it to be all over YouTube, Google Video and Metacafe tomorrow.

In the kind of tight race we have for President, these types of successful viral campaigns can make the difference between competing in New Hampshire in February and watching on TV.

Love the post and the clip, but I always found Hillary’s decision to spoof the Sopranos a little puzzling - after all, if you’re Hillary Clinton, wouldn’t you want to avoid comparisons with Carmela Soprano?

  2. David Wilson Says:

Jason, I think the question is whether Hillary sees herself as Carmela or as Tony:)

  3. Ariel Says:

Douglas Rushkoff has the best discussion of the ad that I’ve read. His point: Hilary Clinton put herself in the role of Tony Soprano. He is a sociopath and a killer, willing to do anything for power. Why would a candidate present herself in such a role?
