Interesting article on Digital Inspiration titled How to Submit Multiple URLs to del.icio.us Bookmarks as a Batch. The first question you might have is why would I want to submit all my pages to Del.icio.is which is a pretty good question. The author’s answer to that question was:
There are some very genuine reasons for submitting bookmarks in bulk - for instance, bloggers can put all their blog posts onto del.icio.us to know which posts are most popular among delicious users and what kind of tags / text notes are users attaching to their posts. It’s like a good visual analysis of your blog site.
My response to that question is that you probably are using XML site maps to make sure that the search engines can find all the pages on your site. Why would you not want the biggest bookmarking site on the web site to have that same information?
So how do you go about uploading all those URL’s? Well Amit explains it like this:
First you need to create a text file with your URL’s and page titles in this format:
Page Title A
Page Title B
Now go to the delicious homepage (http://del.icio.us/) and click on the settings link on the top right of the page.
Then click on import / upload. Browse and select the above file, choose “Yes, Import Popular tags” and finally click the upload button.
The upload status page will reload once every minute. A success message will appear when the job is complete. If you are importing a large number of bookmarks (say more that 200), you can safely close the status page and check later as importing will take some time to complete.
Now here is the downside to the bulk file uploads. You need to manually go and add Del.icio.us tags to those hundreds (or thousands) of URL’s that you just uploaded. My guess is that Del.icio.us does not to reduce the amount of spam that they get, and I can understand that. But from an ease of use standpoint, having to manually enter tags for all those pages, kind of defeats the purpose of the bulk upload in the first place.

Doesnt seem to work for me. I tried plain text, csv, in several different ways… failed each time.
