December is always a good time to look back and reflect on the year. With this blog recently passing its 15 month birthday I thought it would be interesting to go back and look and what were the most popular posts in 2007.
The top ten posts measured by the number of pages views were:
- A Successful Facebook marketing campaign – 3,196 page views
- No budget for social media – 2,510 page views
- You have to do to more than once – 2,203 views
- A social network for the affluent – 2177 views
- Should social media marketing be part of your internet marketing campaign - 2,112 views
- The future of social networks – 1,932 views
- Possible glitch in Facebook plans -1,918 views
- A failed Facebook social media campaign – 1,683 views
- What’s most Delicious – 1,590 views
A couple of things struck me when I was looking over this data. I would never have guessed that three of my most reads posts were Facebook related. I it shows how much of a leap in people’s mind that Facebook made in 2007. Most marketers now view Facebook as the number one social network surpassing MySpace. So in retrospect I should have known that any post that deals with how to market to the Facebook crowd will interest people. Except that when I was writing those posts that was not on my mind.
Which brings me to my second point. It is very, very difficult to write a post and expect it to go viral and be successful. Successful social media efforts means continuing to reach out to your audience. You don’t know what kind of post is going to grab people’s attention, which is why you have to do it more than once!
