I am friends with John Atkinson, who was featured in the Today Show story. In addition, my mother, also a non-smoker, has Stage IV inoperable lung cancer. The lack of funding for lung cancer is absolutely unacceptable. I am planning to run a social media campaign as well. The insanity has to stop. Thanks for the post. Jen

I worked as a cardiovascular nurse for more than 20 years and saw many patients with lung cancer. One of the saddest cases I remember was a woman who died of lung cancer and never had a cigarette in her life. Her husband was a heavy smoker though so second hand smoke was her main exposure. I’m sorry to read about your wife too. One of my great uncles was exposed to asbestos in the shipbuilding industry and he died of mesothelioma. Thank you for bringing this to our attention during this month. I think heart disease and breast cancer receive more attention.
