Great tweet from Michael Brito, aka @Britopian last week on a Study of the Top 15 Brands Social Presence Comparison
The Top 15 Brands as decided by Interbrands and they then looked at the level of presence of each of these brands on the two main social media channels: Twitter and Facebook. From the chart below, it appears that brands are really focusing on either Twitter or Facebook, but few brands are taking advantage of their brand power on both networks.
Here are some of the key findings of study.

think what can taken from this report is “Doing it all” (in Social Media) may not be for you — but you must do something”… Start the Journey, even if it is just a Blog.
This has definitely changed over the past couple of years. I think most brands now recognise the need to have a presence on both twitter and facebook. Also there are now heaps of tools that allow you to post your content on both so you are not duplicating time and effort.
I was talking to a friend with an off line store the other day who said “traditionally, word of mouth is the best form of advertising”. Now with online business, Social media has become the means for word of mouth to flow through
Given the date of this article, it is interesting to see how internet marketing has changed in 2 short years. Companies now have entire departments dedicated to the use of social media outlets and are a major part in their marketing strategies. Facebook now has optimized itself to include new features and tools to make the process of showcasing ones company more available to the general market. Twitter is in a close second with its marketing efforts. Companies should take advantage of these sites to be able to keep up with the market.
