There is no doubt that Facebook is the dominant social networking site, but as parents and grandparents join Facebook, data suggests that the site might be losing its coolness amongst teens.
According to a study from OTX nearly one in five teens with a Facebook profile had decreased or discontinued their use of the site as of April 2010.
What’s more, the decreases seemed to speed up in recent months, with two-thirds of the lapsed users having turned away from the site in the past six months.

Initially I thought that one of the reason that teens are leaving Facebook or abandoning their profiles are their concerns about privacy on Facebook. But that does not appear to be the case. Instead, the reason is much worse from Facebook’s standpoint. Teens are leaving the site because they simply find the site boring.

Yeah, that’s a real good post. Hats off to you. What you have said is true to upto some extent. I have seen many of my friends telling the same thing. But I still love using FB.
I agree with this article, nicely written.
Most of my friends are leaving Facebook these days, they enjoy using iOrbix allot more.

I don’t think anyone knows what could replace Facebook yet, but what ever it is, it’s probably already growing right now.
I’d say iOrbix!
Simply because it’s the best Social Network in my opinion, and it’s growing rapidly, but we can only wait to see what the future holds

You have written nice article. Facebbok is very good social networking site which have so many applications and games. Games like farmville, fishville are very enjoyable, teens can enjoy through these games…..
I enjoy facebook. That might also be because I am a social media/internet lover but its a good way to stay connected with friends, family and current events.
Do they say what is the replacement for Facebook? Where do the teenagers go after leaving Facebook? Is it another social media site, or real life?
I can see why teens are leaving because the site is pretty boring and not very interactive. They are used to the new games they can play online between each other. They are so realistic that it is like real life. Facebook must seem like an old game show camparably speaking.
Facebook used to be too time consuming for me until it was proven that it is a great business resource.
Facebook is the devil you know and the old “dam if you do, and dam if you don’t” scenerio. It’s the individuals choice if Facebook enriches ones life or not…
